REDS

Herve Souhaut Domaine Romaneaux-Destezet Syrah 2021

100% Syrah. The domaine is located further into the hills of the Northern Ardeche in the tiny town of Arlebosc, close to Saint Joseph. Long slow extraction provides incrddible aromatics, energy, and nimbleness.

Les Vins Contés R20 Rouge 2020

50% Cabernet Franc/40% Grolleau/10% Côt. "R" for "rouge" is the base of the wine's name--the second part simply reflects the vintage, e.g. "R20" in 2020. The blend changes annually to some degree. From organically farmed, hand-harvested estate vines averaging 40 years old. Vins Contés reds are all made similarly: semi-carbonic maceration with whole clusters layered in closed tanks with CO2; co-fermentation with indigenous yeasts only; aging in fiberglass tanks; bottling without fining or filtration in early spring after harvest; no sulfur added at any point.

Ampeleia Costa Toscana Unlitro 2021

Field blend of Grenache, Cannonau, Garnacha, Carignano, Mourvedre from an tuscan estate close to the mediterranean sea. Unlitro displays intense aromas and an immediate and harmonious mouth, characterized by an explosion of fruit laced with delicate balsamic and spicy notes.

Rogue Vine Pipeño 2021

This red wine hails from a small vineyard in Guarilihue, Itata that was first planted sometime in the early 1800's. This coastal vineyard sits on decomposed granite and is organically farmed by hand and horse. The wine is fermented naturally in concrete globes and is comprised of 60% Cinsault, 30% Pais, and 10% Carignan. This is a classic Southern Chilean field blend made in the traditional method and meant to be enjoyed as a young, fresh, vibrant wine. We recommend it be served with a slight chill.

Chateau Falfas Bordeaux Cotes-de-Bourg 2016

One of the earliest adopters of biodynamic farming in Bordeaux in 1988. Classic, old school bordeaux yet still showcases bright fruit and elegancy. Leans on Cabernet Franc and Merlot in a blend featuring Cabernet Sauvgnon as well

Domaine des Homs Cinsault L'Amandier

100% Cinsault from Minervois. Ecocert certified organic farming. Lively, Fresh, and quaffable.

Coup d’Jus, Julien Pineau - 2018

Made from old Côt vines that give layers of wild, dark fruit flavors. When Julien Pineau found out that Clos Roche Blanche wanted to sell their land, he quickly jumped on the opportunity to invest in the legendary site with partner Laurent Saillard. He respects these great vineyards. The land is worked by horse and the soils are not sprayed with pesticides. In the cellar, no addition of sulfur is used at any point and Julien favors long élevages of his cuvées. Winemaker Julien Pineau had the good fortune of taking over some vines from the iconic Clos Roche Blanche estate. He trained under Didier Barrouillet but has come into his own all the while respecting the land that he was fortunate enough to obtain.

Laura Lorenzo - “Portela do Vento” 2019

All Mencia, from a South facing parcel of 50 year old vines on granitic sandy soil, at 400m elevation, in the valley of the Sil river. Fruit is de-stemmed, and fermentation is in 4000L foudres, with aging in the same foudres for 11 months. Total SO2 15mg/l. Upon opening, there are aromas of olives and black cherries, soil and savory. A bit volatile, but truly in the best way. When winemakers describe how volatile acidity can lift the aromas and increase the enjoyment of a wine, this is exactly what they're talking about. The wine stands out with a type of animal aroma that is hard to describe, but is clearly a transmission of the grape and the rugged countryside of Ribeira Sacra. On the finish, bright red fruits, mineral structure, and fine tannin. -Chamber Street Wines

DOMAINE AUX MOINES SAVENNIERES-ROCHE AUX MOINES 2018

Chenin Blanc hailing from 45-year-old vines, the 2018 Roche aux Moines is super gorgeous and silken, coating the mouth with its powerful yet suave character. The low yields are reflected in the dense core of ripe apple fruit, floral notes, marzipan, pastry and the merest hint of spice, which no doubt reflects 18 months’ maturation in barrel. There's a light dusting of fine phenolics on the finish and a satisfying grip, speaking of both the nature of this thick-skinned grape and the vineyard site. A smidgen more length would be welcome, but this is a judiciously handled and delightful wine from Tessa Laroche. Rebecca Gibb - Vinous Media (94)

Peter Lauer 'Barrel X' Saar Riesling 2021

“Barrel X” is winemaker Florian Lauer’s Platonic ideal of what a slightly off-dry (feinherb) Saar Riesling should be. If we were in Burgundy, this would be the equivalent of a “Bourgogne Blanc.” As an appellation-level wine, it is sourced from multiple vineyards in four different villages of the Saar: Ayl (Lauer’s home village), Saarburg, Wawern and Wiltingen. Florian says, “From Ayl and Wawern, the wine gains the fruit and power, from Saarburg the racy acidity, and from Wiltingen, the spice.” Regardless of what comes from where, this much is certain: dollar for dollar, I’m not sure there is a 750ml bottle that delivers as much joy and zing. This is the gateway drug to Lauer, to the Saar, to Riesling… be careful. Very addictive. - Vom Boden

Lenkey Pinceszet Furmint Valogatas 2013

This is Lenkey's Furmint Selection from 2013, which he describes as his best vintage since 1999. According to Géza, the year resulted in some of the most exciting, age-worthy wines he's ever made. The best Furmint grapes were selected for this wine from 4 of Lenkeys top parcels in Mád, rich in volcanic tuff, rhyolite and iron oxide. The wine was spontaneously fermented with native yeasts in large used Hungarian oak barrels, and subsequently aged for 3 years in Hungarian oak and 4.5 years in bottle. Minerals and smoky honey appear on the nose. On the palate, chestnuts, allspice, and candied stone fruits transition to salty, waxy green apples and tart pomelo. Long lingering finish. Certified organic and vegan. 1928 bottles produced.

Domaine Leon Boesch Alsace Les Collines 2020

Domaine Leon Boesch is an 11th generation, biodynamic, family winery located in the heart of Alsace. While not new to the market, this year is a first for the arrival of their Edelzwicker. The term “Edelzwicker” dates back to 1644, when the so-called noble varieties in Alsace were differentiated from those judged to be of lesser quality. Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Muscat fell into the noble category, while Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner, Chasselas and Auxerrois were relegated. Historically, this style of wine was made from only the noble varieties until 1970, when the term “Edelzwicker” was deregulated, and today it is used more out of nostalgia than a legislative requirement. The 2019 Leon Boesch “Les Collines” is a blend of Riesling, Pinot Blanc, and Gewurztraminer. Approximately 30% of the final wine is blended with the lees from all the cuvées in the cellar which means that there is some of every wine from the domaine in this vibrant bottling! Candied lemon and racy acidity make your mouth water for savory broths, white meats, and starchy winter dishes.

2021 Monastero Trappiste di Vitorchiano 'Coenobium' Bianco Lazio IGT

Cistercian nuns farm and produce this wine in an entirely natural manner under the guidance of Giampiero Bea, the Coenobium is a blend of Trebbiano, Verdicchio, and Malvasia, harvested together and co-fermented without added yeasts or temperature stabilization. Aged on its fine lees in steel and fiberglass tanks, it is bottled just before the next harvest without fining or filtering. The nose is evocative of autumn on multiple sensory levels, with aromas of fennel fronds, chamomile tea, almonds, and tangerine that lead into a full but delicately rendered palate. Vitorchiano’s volcanic soils come through with a somber smoke-iron interplay, and glowing acidity lets the savory flavors coat the mouth, yet the overall impression is one of freshness and drinkability.

ROSÉ

Christoph Hoch - Rosé NV

Chris Brockway sources grapes from small, organic vineyards all over California for his projects, each aiming to showcase the vitality of CA wine. His natural approach includes picking early to preserve freshness and acidity, native fermentations, and no additions. The 2021 Love White is a blend of 31% Marsanne, 21% Albariño, 18% Grenache Blanc, 15% Roussanne, and 12% Picpoul, fermented separately and aged in neutral French oak. Each grape adds a perfect element: brightness, aromatics, texture... all combining in a delightful expression. -Flat Iron Wines

ORANGE

Louis-Antoine Luyt Blanco Pipeno Carrizal Valle del Maule 2021

Ancient Muscat, Chasselas, Semillon, Torontel vines in Maule, Chile. Deep golden colour due to the maceration. Very aromatic, exotic, passion fruit, pineapple, orange zest, sage, slightly mineral, cleansing. A soft, creamy texture spiced up by mild tannins and pleasant bitters that provide structure. A wine that intrigues because there are many layers to discover, but is also very enjoyable and easy to quaff with friends.

Jordi Llorens Blan 5.7 2020

A maceration of Macabeu and Parellada from west of Barcelona in the small village of Espluga. Dynamic aroma and finessed palate. Savory components keep you engaged. Can handle a variety of foods.

SPARKLING

Hervé Villemade - Cheverny Rouge 2021 - Loire Valley, France

Hervé’s 2019 rouge was the first wine we introduced through Foodlore Provisions and for good reason; it’s damn delicious. It has everything we look for in a red wine, energy and freshness, juicy yet woodsy, stimulating aromatics from whole cluster fermentation, and absolutely thirst-quenching. There is a lot going on in this bottle and its 60%/40% Pinot Noir/Gamay blend lends itself to an array of pairings. Buy it before we drink it all.

FORTIFIED

Chateau de Rombeau Vin de Pays des Cotes Catalanes Rancio Sec

The lightest of the Rombeau Rancio secs, the 2010 is distinguished by its cepage and its shorter elevage, with an increased percentage of Macabeu and, atypically, a small amount of Muscat à Petits Grains (roughly 10%) added to the foundational Grenache blanc and Grenache gris. Vinified in tank with native yeasts, then transferred to an assortment of old barrels, foudres and glass demijohns for 12-18 months aging outdoors. A portion is then returned to the cellars, which rest above ground and lack temperature control, while another portion remains in the "barrel forest" outdoors until the time of blending and bottling. The 2010 Rancio was bottled in mid-2016. It can be enjoyed with all manner of tapas, with cheese; with wood-fired pork or curried lamb, or as a digestif. Shelf-stable, it should be served lightly chilled or at cellar temperature.

Tresmontaine ‘Puits aux Souhaits’ Rancio Sec NV

Tresmontaine ‘Puits aux Souhaits’ Rancio sec is the last produced under the auspice of the late winemaker, Bernard Sapéras, who kept it mainly for family and friends. Made from Grenache noir vines with an average age of 70 years and a yield of just 20 hl/ha, it was fermented in old casks over the course of several years before coming to rest in barrels first used for the domaine’s Banyuls blanc. The average age of the blend is 10 years. The most elegant of the Côte Vermeille Rancio secs, ‘Puits aux Souhaits’ (‘Wishing Well’) was bottled especially for Soloton Selections by Bernard’s son Olivier and the Sapéras family. It excels as an aperitif and can be enjoyed with all manner of tapas, including anchovies, roasted nuts, aged Iberico ham and various cheeses. Shelf-stable, it should be served lightly chilled or at cellar temperature.

Primitivo Quiles - Vermuth Rojo 1L

Vermouth got such a bad rap over the years but as you may have noticed it's cool again so go ahead and dive in. For me anything that is simple and easy plus refreshing - that is my summer jam. I just mix this beautiful Spanish Vermouth over rocks with soda water and a twist of lime or orange and you are good. Throw in some bitters if you want to mix it up but not necessary. I call it adult coca cola and it goes down easy. - JGM Astor Wines

Cocchi Americano Bianco

Made to the same recipe since 1891, this Moscato-based aperitif wine has long been a staple of Asti. While the Americano name implies a gentian focus, the wine also includes quinine and citrus for a flavorful, refreshing profile. In Piemonte it is served chilled with ice, a splash of soda and a peel of orange. Cocchi Americano Bianco’s combination of fruit, spice and bitter undertones can perfect a number of classic mixed drinks. This same profile makes it splendid pairing with all kinds of pickles, nuts, charcuterie and cheeses
