Immerse yourself in captivating stories by Liza Newell woven from the currents of tradition and imagination, accompanied by musical duo Holy River’s ethereal soundscapes and transcendent melodies.
Liza Newell is a performance artist from Richmond, Virginia who uses storytelling, song, puppetry, and dance to explore the beauty and complexity of the human spirit. She hails from a lineage of storytellers and has honed her craft through years of immersion in the rich tapestry of musical theater, communal singing, dance, and writing. Her work is a tapestry of expression woven from fairy tales, folklore, mythology, and personal experiences. Liza believes in the power of curiosity and imagination as a driving force for change.
Holy River is a musical duo, Laney and Jameson, from Richmond, Virginia. Rooted in themes of nature, spirituality, and human connection, their music weaves together elements of indie folk, world, and ambient genres. The duo's performances create an immersive experience that transcends the boundaries of a traditional concert, offering audiences moments of reflection, introspection and inspiration.
In addition to their music, Laney and Jameson are passionate advocates for environmental stewardship and community building. They are the founders of Fonticello Food Forest, a thriving urban food forest in Richmond, VA dedicated to nature connection, education and community access to fresh and rescued food.
Come sit by the sacred currents and let your spirit be carried away by the rhythms and stories. Immerse yourself into a world of myth, memory, and wonder.
The event is ticketed for adults 18 and older (free for youth) and will be hosted at Oakley Farm, specific location TBA based on weather conditions. Limited space available.
The North Stable at Oakley Farm will be open Friday, April 18 from 4 - 8pm, with Troddenvale serving ciders and wines by the glass as well as a seasonal food menu. We encourage you to arrive early, so you have time to enjoy a bite to eat or grab a beverage before the evening’s program begins promptly at 6pm.
