Holiday Shop: Peg's Salt
***PLEASE NOTE: Holiday Shop orders will be available for pickup on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 4 - 7pm at Oakley Farm in Warm Springs, VA. Holiday orders CANNOT be fulfilled before this date and time.
Every batch of Peg's Salt is hand-mixed in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Production is supported by Vector Industries, a nonprofit organization In Waynesboro that employs disabled workers in a variety of ways. Peg’s Salt originates in the city of Staunton.
Eighteen common spices are in each jar of Peg's Salt and Peg's Pink Salt –- garlic, pepper, parsley, thyme, rosemary, paprika, etc. Peg's Pink Salt has coarser grains in the Pink Himalayan and kosher sea salt blend. While both have the same savory flavor and effect, some find Peg's Pink to taste a bit "softer" than the original.
Peg, created this seasoned salt in the 1970s in Ohio and gave it away to friends and family throughout her life. Once people tried some, they didn't want to cook without it because it enhances flavor without making foods taste alike. Cass, Peg’s daughter, pestered her mom about writing down the recipe, which she finally did. After she passed away, Cass continued to make and share it. The reaction was always the same: people wanted more.
Peg's Salt does not contain gluten, sugar, GMOs, or MSG. Peg's Salt is not processed in a kosher facility. It is hand-mixed in a separate kitchen where no nuts, wheat, or soy products are used or stored. However, it is not certified as free of any particular ingredient.
Peg’s Salt enhances, and is recommended with, all of our grass fed and pasture raised meats.
